Alumni: Ciara Long

Ciara mentioned that she is a Designer Maker, and it was obvious to see from her presentation that she has a wide range of drawing techniques. With freelance work from Lemon Ribbon, and internships from Moonpig and TigerPrint. It had been said during the presentation that she had been scared of colour, but had gotten over the fear whilst freelancing.

She shared her inside knowledge of what its like to be a freelance designer. This included having more freedom in what you were to design/draw, also your own personal space, which can have a huge impact on your work. She mentioned that she is still in the early days of graduating, and is experience every little thing from contracts with clients to getting an accountant.

From her presentation; regarding being scared of colour, I've learnt that all designers have weak points. Its obvious that Ciara has gained confidence, and by working hard and gaining internships it is possible to work through these areas and develop as a designer.
